Sacha Robotti Announces New Label & Tour

July 20, 2019 by liquified1017
Fresh News

House and techno producer Sacha Robotti has nearly two decades of experience putting out music on tastemaking labels like Dirtybird, Octopus Records and This Ain’t Bristol. Now, the German-born, Los Angles-based artist is flexing his artistic freedom with the launch of his new label, Slothacid.

The imprint will serve as a distribution method exclusively for Robotti’s own music, with the first release, the aptly named four-track EP Welcome to Slothacid out on Aug. 30. The EP’s first single “Tail of a Siren” — a tech house thrillride through deep space — is premiering exclusively on Billboard Dance, below.

“It’s a love song from the future with weird distorted vocals that I wrote and sang, on eternal unreciprocated love, I guess, and with a German accent [laughs],” Robotti tells Billboard Dance. “I want to channel emotion into my music to affect people viscerally, if possible.”

Robotti will continue releasing music on other labels when the timing is right, but says that Slothacid will give him the space to follow his creative impulses without having to fit into a certain sound or label release schedule. Fans can expect new music from Slothacid every “month or two…but I’m not set on that since I’ll release whenever I feel I want or need to.”

“The plan with my label is to release music that’s special to me without falling too deep into the dogma trap of genres and styles that are popular at this moment,” Robotti continues. “I‘m trying to express myself and explore…the first EP is a snapshot of the range of music I want to showcase on Slothacid Records, this is a creative freedom I want to retain and reflect with my label!”READ MOREJhene Aiko, Cut Chemist & More Announced for Dirtybird Campout West 2019 Lineup

The label launch and EP are getting IRL traction with a 24-date Welcome To Slothacid fall tour, for which Robotti will play open-to-close sets at clubs across the United States and Canada. After living and working in Berlin for 16 years, and making music as part of DJ duo Robosonic for 12 of them, Robotti has become a West Coast festival favorite since relocating to Los Angeles three years ago.

“I think overall, I feel more at ease and relaxed here,” Robotit says of life on the Golden Coast. “I love the optimism and the great weather here. I have also opened up to — for a lack of a better word — ‘spirituality’ more, and I love the nature here. Artistically, the move was also a good thing for me. I’m getting to experience West Coast festival life, which is truly one of a kind! I love to be around all the amazing music that has come out of L.A., be it hip-hop or electronic music or rock. The density and mixture of musicians and artists in this city is insane, and the opportunities for us to work together also.”

ILLENIUM DROPS NEW ID

Fresh News

Illenium is downright nonstop when it comes to new music. The producer just unleashed another new ID at Audiotistic over the weekend — and now it’s making waves online.

What fans are calling “Blood” made a statement on stage and Illenium soon after shared a short preview via his Instagram Story. Now, we’re able to experience a more complete snippet of the unreleased track thanks to the fan video below.

The new ID blends Illenium’s softer side with an absolutely ruthless drop. Beautiful vocals are met with an insanely original, bass-driven production. Glitchy, dubby goodness ensues as the producer throws down what we’re expecting to make way onto his forthcoming third album, Ascend.

Illenium’s new album comes out on August 16 and we can’t wait to hear what else is in store! Watch below to get an idea.

NICKY ROMERO REDEFINE SERIES

July 19, 2019 by liquified1017
Fresh News, Uncategorized

Nick Rotteveel van Gotum, known professionally as Nicky Romero, recently announced his Redefine world tour, which kicked off with his Ultra Music Festival main stage performance. Apparently, releasing the music video for his single “Love You Forever” wasn’t enough. The EDM superstar is bringing his tour’s concept to another level with a three-part documentary of its namesake.

The Redefine documentary series chronicles Romero’s evolution from DJ/producer to media mogul. As can be expected from its title, the documentary is an intimate and, arguably, humbling look into the artist’s push to redefine himself.

The first episode, “Past,” aired July 11th on YouTube. The next two episodes will be appropriately titled “Present” and “Future.”

“Past” will harken back to the “golden era” of EDM, focusing on the Dutch DJ’s early artistry. In the first episode, Nicky Romero explains his hustle to learn and make his first tracks. He shares his then-idols and mistakes — a humility fans don’t often get on Twitter.

The first part of Nicky Romero's "Redefine" documentary series, "Past" will look at the DJ's early attempts to find his sound.

While “Past” reveals a more raw look into the DJ’s life, it also serves an educational purpose. Romero drops high-level technical knowledge on music production throughout his anecdotes. Viewers can take away tangible lessons and a tease for the following episode, “Present,” which will dive into his success as a worldwide performer and owner of Protocol Records.

Redefine dances the fine line of being a laundry list of the artist’s successes. He encourages viewers to share their own testimonials on how they are redefining themselves on his website.

In case the documentary doesn’t satiate all Nicky Romero fandom, watch the feel-good music video for “Love You Forever,” which dropped just yesterday. Sam Martin lends his melt-worthy voice to the track, while Hungarian duo StadiumX add a progressive house twist. Following Romero’s affinity for three-part themes, the music video centers on three stories of everyday people.

Start your day on a sentimental note and watch the music video below.
